I am trying to estimate the extend of the recirculation zone in a simple heat exchanger problem. The model is a 2D representation of the hot fluid channel. In this model I concentrate only on the flow characteristics of this side since the channel design restrictions are stricter for this side.
The recirculation zone behind the return wall is virtually 'lost' for good heat exchange. I try to find a physical parameter comsol can extract to estimate the area of this recirculation zone so I can use it for a quantifiable comparison of different options we have.
Can anyone suggest a way to extract an estimation of the area of this zone from comsol?
