3D geometry imported mesh

hello Saeid,

sorry for the later response. was on holiday for about a month.

i am using COMSOL 4.3a. i just checked with my computer. It's possible to follow "Definitions----->Functions---->Image". It seems that this function is available for version 4.3 and 4.3a.

Good to know that you had success in generating 3D mesh. I did it with Mimics and succeeded in generating 3D mesh. While trying to import into COMSOL, i am struggling to define boundary conditions for flow simulation. It would be nice if we can generate geometry from images. Attached is a reference guide i just got today from COMSOL support. Regarding imported mesh, please refer to page 158-164.

some guy said that it's possible to do that with Matlab livelink and comsol. the tip is based on MRI image. (It's a Chinese webpage, so i suppose it won't help if i send you the link ;) )

1. Import image into Matlab
2. use "film2curve" function to create 2D cross-sections
3. use "loft" function to create 3D geometry.

i just found it 2 days ago. And i am not good at matlab. so i haven't tried that out yet. if you are good at matlab, you may try it.

By the way, it seems that we are doing quite similar thing. it would be quite nice if we could keep in contact and share experience with each other about our study.

short introduction of me: my name is Chunyan. i am from China and am doing my phd on biological wastewater treatment in Germany. my office mail is: chunyan.li@kit.edu. if necessary, we may have skype meetings to discuss our problems.

Good luck with your work! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Chunyan
